'Laapataa Ladies' Beats 'Pathaan' and 'Salaar' At The Japan Box Office

Tokyo, November 21 - Aamir Khan's production Laapataa Ladies, which is also India's official Oscar 2025 entry, has beaten the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Ceasefire at the Japanese box office. ## Directed by Kiran Rao, the rural comedy-drama has minted over ¥50 million (2.75+ crore gross) in 45 days so far. Pathaan had grossed approximately 50 million yen while Salaar: Ceasefire earned approximately 46 million yen. Both the films were 2 of the biggest Indian grossers of 2023. ## The total worldwide collection of Laapataa Ladies is approximately 31 crores gross, including 25 crores gross at the Indian box office. The movie was a decent success in India. It is expected to have a good run at the Japanese box office. ## As said, Laapata Ladies is the 14th highest-grossing Indian movie in Japan. In the long run, it might beat Baahubali (¥75 million) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (¥80 million). Aamir Khan's 'Laapataa Ladies' Picked As India's Official Entry For Oscars

Mumbai, September 23 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has been picked as India's official entry for the Oscars 2025, the Film Federation of India announced on Monday. ## The comedy-drama film, directed by Kiran Rao, tells the story of two young newly-wed brides who get exchanged during a train ride to their husband's homes. It stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan, in key roles.## Laapataa Ladies was released on March 1st this year amid positive critical reception. The movie did decently at the box office, grossing approximately 27.50 crores worldwide before emerging as a big success on streaming with over 17 million views.## The 13-member select committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua unanimously decided on Laapataa Ladies as India's Oscars 2025 entry. Mumbai, May 31 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has shown incredible consistency at the box office on the lower levels since its digital release and has crossed the 20 crores net mark which once looked like a pipe dream. ## Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Ladies was made available on the digital platform after 8 weeks and since then it has minted over 2.50 crores net collection by showing an upward trend. Mumbai, May 28 - Aamir Khan's production venture Laapataa Ladies has become the most-watched Indian film of 2024 on Netflix by beating Hrithik Roshan's Fighter.## Directed by Kiran Rao, Laapataa Rao added another 1.9 million views in its fifth week (May 20 - May 26) which took its total viewership to 15.7 million views in 31 days to become the most-watched Indian title of 2024 on Netflix after beating Fighter (14 million views). ## Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn-fronted Shaitaan has also crossed Fighter and is now the second most-watched Indian movie of the year. The horror thriller added 1.8 million views in its 4th week to push its total viewership to 14.8 million in 24 days. ## Interestingly, the top 5 most-watched Indian films of 2024 on Netflix were first released in theatres before going to the streamer.
