Kartik Aaryan's Creature-Comedy 'Naagzilla' Officially Announced With Release Date

Mumbai, April 22 - Bollywood heartthrob Kartik Aaryan has reunited with Karan Johar's Dharma Production for a creature comedy Naagzilla. The movie has been in the news for the past few weeks, and the makers officially confirmed it with the first look poster and release date. ## Naagzilla will be directed by the Fukrey director, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and it will hit the big screen on August 14, 2026, ahead of Independence Day and Nag Panchami. The film, Kartik Aaryan will play the role of a Snake-Man, and he will be fighting the snakes in the movie.## The upcoming film is a one-of-a-kind creature comedy in Indian cinema. Both Kartik and Lamba have proven their talent in the comedy space, and the duo is excited to collaborate for the first time in Naagzilla. The movie is currently in pre-production and is expected to start rolling by August/September this year.## Naagzilla, produced by Dharma Production and Mahaveer Jain Films, will clash with Varun Dhawan's Bhediya 2, which is also a creature comedy from Maddock Films. The actor has Johar's Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, slated to hit screens on Valentine's Day 2026, and has now signed one more film with the blockbuster producer. ## According to the latest reports, Kartik will be doing a high-concept creature comedy film, which will be produced by Karan Johar and Mahaveer Jain. Fukrey fame Mrigdeep Singh Lamba has written the script, and he will be directing this mega-budget film. The makers are looking to lock a newcomer to play the female lead role. ## Meanwhile, according to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the yet untitled movie was initially offered to superstar Akshay Kumar. The actor had initially shown interest in it, but eventually backed out due to its concept. The film is touted to be a one-of-a-kind high-concept comedy with a snake as the antagonist. ## It is said that Akshay was not convinced by the conflict of snake vs human, and didn't want to venture into this genre again after Jaani Dushman. However, due to the tensions in the region, the filmmakers began to avoid shooting here. And now, to make J&K a shooting hub, the government is working towards it taking important steps to invite filmmakers to shoot their projects. ## In this process, Lt governer of J&K Manoj Sinha, the presence of actor Aamir Khan, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, and producer Mahaveer Jain launched a new Jammu & Kashmir's Film Policy-2021 in Srinagar, on Thursday (August 5). ## "I invite filmmakers from across the world to explore the beauty of J&K. At the same time, also avail a host of incentives, besides world-class facilities", Sinha said. The government has set up a single-window clearance mechanism; prepared equipment, location, and talent directories, besides offering a host of incentives for filmmakers coming to the UT.## The policy will facilitate overall growth of the film industry in the region, setting up of J&K Film Development Council, a website for talent pool and shooting destinations; development of shooting locales, infrastructure for film screening, the revival of closed cinema halls, upgrade of cinema halls, setting up of multiplexes and cinema halls, destination marketing, J&K film festival, and restoration and preservation of J&K films.## "The new policy also aims at maximizing the potential of promising local talent and creating livelihood opportunities. The policy has been drafted after consultation with experts and in-depth study of similar policies of other states/UTs. Suggestions of renowned personalities of the film industry have also been incorporated", the L-G added. ## Sinha said to assist in film shooting, they have manpower of more than 1,500 trained artists which will also provide an opportunity to the local talent.
