Bengaluru, October 6 - Hombale Films' blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1 has shattered records at the homeland box office after the excellent opening weekend. Written, directed, and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the period folk action thriller has scored the biggest opening weekend ever in Karnataka, beating Yash-fronted KGF Chapter 2. Kantara Chapter 2, which was released on October 2nd, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Dusshera, opened to over 20 crores gross in the state, and remained rock solid throughout the 4-day extended weekend to gross around 79 crores, which is now a record in KA. Yash's action drama, which also had the 4-day weekend, minted approximately 73.50 crores gross in the home state during its opening frame. Kantara 2 beating all-time biggest Kannada blockbuster is a major achievement as Prashanth Neel's directorial was hugely hyped before taking the box office by storm. After the opening weekend, the Kantara prequel is holding extremely well domestically, especially in Karnataka. By tomorrow (day 6th), it will cross 100 crores gross in the state and will become only the fifth movie ever to reach the milestone after Baahubali 2, KGF 1, KGF 2, and Kantara. Considering the current trend, Kantara 2 might become the first movie ever to breach the milestone of 200 crores in Karnataka, beating Kantara (183.60 crores). Mumbai, October 3 - South Indian cinema continues to make a mark at the Hindi box office, and the latest to enter the race is Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1, which has taken a good start in the dubbed version, scoring 18.50 crore opening day. Among the top 10 biggest South Indian openers at the Hindi box office, Kantara 2 has secured the 8th spot. At the very top of the list is Allu Arjun's Pan India phenomenon, Pushpa 2: The Rule, which rewrote box office history with a mammoth 70 crore opening day in Hindi, which is a record. This number is far ahead of every other South release and firmly establishes Pushpa 2 as a true pan-India monster. Kannada superstar Yash's KGF Chapter 2 follows next with 54 crore net opening, a record that held strong until Pushpa 2 arrived. SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster Baahubali 2: The Conclusion sits at number 3 with 41 crores net. It is worth noting that it was the Baahubali franchise, which originally opened the floodgates for South dominance in Hindi belts. Prabhas, easily the biggest South Indian star in the Hindi market, makes multiple entries in the top 10, with Saaho making it to the top 5, followed by his Kalki 2898 AD. Rajamouli's RRR, along with superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's sci-fi extravaganza 2.0, also entered the list with solid openings. Breaking into this power-packed list at No. 8, Kantara Chapter 1, which is the second Kannada movie in this coveted list. Bengaluru, April 14 - Hombale Films, the studio behind one of the biggest blockbusters of the Indian cinema KGF: Chapter 2, has given a major hint for the film's third installment and in which timeline it will be set up. ## Hombale Films released a video celebrating the first anniversary of the Yash-fronted monster blockbuster. The video shared on social media features some of the biggest goosebumps moments from KGF: Chapter 2. At once, the video looked like the highlight of the film, but suddenly it gets interesting with a hint of 3rd film. ## At one point in the video, after Govinde Gowda, a peon at 24/News, urged Vijayendra Ingalagi (Prakash Raj) to preach only about incidents that were written in the book, the scenes from Rocky's death to finishing his enemies started getting reversed. ## We also know the KGF: Chapter 2 has left a time gap of 4 years (during which Rocky did many crimes in different countries) which many assumed to be the core plot of KGF: Chapter 3. Going by the video and the way the scenes were reversed, it is clear that the 3rd Chapter will be the prequel to Chapter 2. ## At the end of the video, the tagline "That promise will be kept", but "Was the promise kept?" leaves so many hints and confirms that there was so much in the story to explore which will be shown in the next film.
