Alia Bhatt Named PETA's 2021 Person Of The Year

Mumbai, Dec 27 (IANS) Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has been named PETA's 2021 Person of the Year for her work in support of the animal-friendly fashion industry.



The actress had recently invested in Phool, the company behind Fleather, which makes vegan leather out of discarded temple flowers. In addition, her vegan kidswear line, Ed-a-Mamma, also won a 2021 PETA India fashion award for helping to nurture kids' love for animals and nature.



Alia is known to advocate support for cats and dogs and often uses her voice to call for stronger animal protection laws. The actress has also starred in a pro-adoption People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India campaign to help felines and canines.



PETA India Director of Celebrity and Public Relations, Sachin Bangera said, "Alia Bhatt is not only helping to advance vegan fashion but also encouraging the next generation to be kind to animals."



He added, "Alia doesn't hesitate to speak up, whether she's rallying her fans to adopt a dog or cat or calling for action on crimes against animals."



Past recipients of PETA India's Person of the Year Award include Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor, former Supreme Court Justice K.S. Panicker Radhakrishnan, cricketer Virat Kohli, comedian Kapil Sharma, actors John Abraham, Anushka Sharma, Sunny Leone, R. Madhavan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Hema Malini, and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, for helping animals in different ways.

Mumbai, August 8 - Yash Raj Films' spy action thriller War 2 is set to be the longest film in the Spy Universe with the theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 53 minutes, beating Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai (2 hours and 42 minutes). However, there might be an additional runtime for the upcoming blockbuster. ## According to the report by Mid-Day, the Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-starrer was originally censored by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on August 6, with an approved runtime of 183 minutes. However, YRF has submitted for re-conser with a new runtime of 173 minutes. ## The shorter theatrical cut is now reportedly much more aligned with the makers' original vision. It is said that the team didn't want to compromise on the pace of the Ayan Mukerji-directed film, especially in the second half. To deliver a tighter, more gripping film, it was reportedly decided by the team that they would edit the film further and resubmit. ## Meanwhile, there have been blockbuster reports about the War 2's post-credit scene. It has been confirmed that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh from YRF's next spy universe film, Alpha, will feature in the post-credit scene. The genre and other aspects are kept under wraps for now, but it is said that the subject is close to the director's heart and is set to make it with Gangubai Kathiawadi star. ## Alia too has reportedly loved the world that Nag is looking to create and she is excited to collaborate with the maverick filmmaker. The dates of the actress are being sorted out as things are yet to be officially locked. Alia is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War and she wants to finish it before starting her next. ## The report reveals that Nag Ashwin is looking to start this yet-untitled project in November and finish it in a certain timeline, as he also has Kalki 2 slated to commence in the second half of 2026. Both, the actress and the director are on the same page regarding collaborating for the first time and it's all about logistics to make things official. ## Alia's next release is Yash Raj Films' spy action thriller, Alpha which is scheduled to be released on Christmas this year. Next up for the actress is Love & War, which is likely to be followed by Nag Ashwin's directorial. 'Gully Boy' Sequel In The Works With Different Cast: Report

Mumbai, January 14 - A sequel to the musical romantic drama Gully Boy is reportedly in the works without the original cast of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, and director Zoya Akhtar. The blockbuster film will complete 6 years on February 14. ## According to the Filmfare report, Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Pandey will headline the much-awaited sequel while Arjun Varain Singh, who previously helmed Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, will direct it. If gets confirmed, it will mark Vicky and Ananya's first film together. ## "Arjun Varain Singh, who directed Kho Gaye Hum Kahan for Excel and Tiger Baby, is slated to direct the Gully Boy sequel. He's confident that Ananya, who was his heroine in Kho Gaye, will be the perfect girl to lead the project. Vicky has been attached with the sequel for a long time now", says the report. ## Released in 2019, Gully Boy is inspired by the lives of street rappers Divine and Naezy. It tells the story of Murad, played by Ranveer, a young aspiring rapper from Mumbai's slums. The film was critically acclaimed and emerged as a box office blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of around 235 crores. ## Meanwhile, Vicky Kaushal is awaiting the release of the much-awaited historic action drama Chhaava which is scheduled to hit the big screens on February 14.
