Kartik Aaryan To Headline Third Installment of Aashiqui Franchise
Mumbai, September 5 - Young Bollywood superstar Kartik Aaryan has been roped in to headline the third installment of the hit Aashiqui franchise. Anurag Basu has been attached to direct this musical romantic film to be produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series in association with Mukesh Bhatt's Vishesh Films.



"The timeless classic 'Aashiqui' is something I grew up watching and working on 'Aashiqui 3' is like a dream come true. I feel privileged yet grateful for collaborating with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I've been a big fan of Anurag Basu's work and collaborating with him on this one will definitely shape me in many ways", Kartik was quoted by Variety.



T-Series made the film announcement via Twitter and wrote, "The biggest announcement of the year is here! We're ecstatic to collaborate with #MukeshBhatt once again with the much-anticipated #Aashiqui3 starring our favorite Aaryan Kartik directed by Anurag Basu with music by Pritam. After Aashiqui and Aashiqui 2 took the film industry by storm, the next in this musical franchise is set to win us all over again!".



The third film in this popular film franchise is coming after almost a decade of Mohit Suri-directed "Aashiqui 2" in 2013, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. The film successfully carried the legacy of the first part "Aashiqui" (1990) and became a huge hit at the box office while Aashiqui 2's soundtrack received acclaim from music critic.



The lead actress of "Aashiqui 3" is yet to be announced. Previously there was buzz that Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt may step in for the third part but the film never went on floors, and eventually, it has been been announced with Kartik who is in top form.
