Sonya Deville Shares Progress Update On ACL Recovery

Former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Sonya Deville recently took to Instagram to provide an update on her recovery from a torn ACL.





Deville suffered the injury in August 2023, forcing her to relinquish her championship title. In a video showcasing her current training routine, Deville revealed she's still working through challenges but making positive progress.





The video features Deville engaging in jumping exercises, admitting initial hesitation due to her recovering ACL. However, she progresses through the workout, expressing growing confidence. Deville also tackles agility drills, acknowledging initial awkwardness but ultimately feeling good about her performance.





This update comes nearly eight months after Deville's last in-ring appearance on July 28th, 2023. While Deville was forced to give up the championship due to injury, her tag team partner Chelsea Green retained the title with Piper Niven taking Deville's place.

Bianca Belair will have her first Raw Women's Championship defense against Sonya Deville at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8. The bout was made official on WWE's The Bump. ## On the April 11th edition of Monday Night Raw, Raw Womenโ€™s Champion Bianca Belair defeated Queen Zelina in a non-Title match. In the wake of her victory, Belair was interrupted by WWE Official Sonya Deville. Congratulating the new titleholder on her monumental WrestleMania victory, the WWE official presented her with an open contract for her title to prove what a fighting champion she is. ## When Bianca signed it, however, Deville attacked her from behind and signed the contract to give herself a title match. ## Deville most recently lost on TV to Ronda Rousey on the March 4 episode of WWE SmackDown. She has not won a singles match since defeating Mandy Rose on the April 25, 2020 episode of WWE SmackDown. ## The event is scheduled to take place on May 8, 2022, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island.
