Malaysia Government Commits To Banning More LGBT Films After Banning 'Thor' and 'Lightyear'

Director Taika Waititi Says He Would Love To Return To Complete His 'Thor' Trilogy With Chris Hemsworth

Los Angeles, July 12 - Director Taika Waititi's second Thor movie - "Thor: Love and Thunder" has been released in theaters. Unlike "Thor: Ragnarok", the 4th installment in this superhero franchise got low ratings from critics and audiences alike.## Thor will return with the 5th installment, but after "Thor: Love and Thunder", the speculations are making noise about who will direct it and will Chris Hemsworth return to play this iconic comic-book superhero. Interestingly, the post-credits card ending "Thor 4" was a surprise for the eight-time Marvel star as it introduces a major MCU superhero. ## Well, in an interview with Insider (via comicbook, Waititi revealed that he would love to return to the director's chair and complete his Thor trilogy only with Hemsworth, who, in one of the recent interviews said that he would play Thor "until someone says get off the stage".## "That was a surprise to me, too. I'm not joking," Waititi told Insider of Marvel confirming Thor's eventual return. "I saw it in the theater and I was like, 'Oh, shit. Really?' Even Chris was like, 'What?' But, of course, he'll be back. He's the best character. I mean, I may be a little biased, but he's the most fun to watch".## "Now, I don't know what would be next. I would definitely do one, but only if Chris did it," Waititi said. "But it would need to be something surprising and unexpected for me to want to do it, like what would be the new take? The battles and all the fighting is fine, but I would want something that feels unexpected when it comes to the story. Like making just a $5 million movie with no fighting at all, just Thor on a road trip. Like [Alexander Payne's 2013 film] Nebraska", he added.## Marvel Studios has not yet announced Thor 5 or when Thor might return. ## Meanwhile, despite the mixed talks among the audiences and being rated one of the lowest MCU movies by critics, "Thor 4" opened to a mighty $303 million worldwide on the opening weekend, making it the biggest opening ever of the franchise. Box Office: 'Thor 4' Is Bigger Than Each of The Previous Three Thor Movies

Taika Waititi returned to direct his second Thor movie and also re-introduces Jane Foster after being sidelined since 2014's "Thor: The Dark World".## "Thor: Love and Thunder", however, is not being loved by the critics while the audience reception is also mixed. The critics' score of the latest Thor movie is almost similar to the second movie in the franchise, "Thor: The Dark World", with 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. Thor 2 has a 66% critics' score. ## Regardless of what critics are saying, "Thor 4" put up a thunderous show at the domestic as well as international box office, scoring a mighty $303 million globally, which is the 3rd highest weekend for any Hollywood movie during the pandemic and the 2nd best of 2022, behind "Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness".## At the domestic (North America) box office, "Thor: Love and Thunder" scored the biggest opening weekend as compared to each of the previous three Thor movies with $144 million. Thor: Love and Thunder Secures 5th Biggest MCU Opening of All Time

Los Angeles, July 9 - Chris Hemsworth and Natali Portman's Thor: Love and Thunder's domestic box office opening has once again proved that the critics' reviews hardly matter when it comes to the Marvel movie. ## The superhero movie, directed by Taika Waititi, is one of the lowest MCU-rated movies of all time with a critics' score of 68% from 305 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing. However, it seems that the low critics' rating is only for the record book as the movie took a flying start of $29 million from its domestic (North America) Thursday preview screens (which started at 3 pm). ## The thundering opening of "Thor 4" is one of the biggest ever for an MCU title. For the record, it is the 5th biggest Thursday start for all MCU films and the second-best of 2022 overall (just behind Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness). It is tracking to earn $150 million in the domestic opening weekend and possibly $300 million worldwide.## Have a look at the TOP 5 biggest MCU Thursday previews - ## 1. Avengers: Endgame - $60 million## 2. Spider-Man: No Way Home - $50 million## 3. Avengers: Infinity War - $39 million## 4. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - $36 million## 5. Thor: Love and Thunder - $29 million## The Disney and Marvel movie is a direct sequel to "Thor: Ragnarok" (2017), both were directed by the maverick filmmaker Taika Waititi, and is the fourth entry in the Thor stand-alone franchise. 'Thor: Love and Thunder' Tracking To Earn $300 Million Worldwide In The Opening Weekend

Los Angeles, July 7 - Marvel Studios' Thor: Love and Thunder, is all set to help deliver big at the worldwide box office, despite being rated one of the lowest Marvel Cinematic Universe flicks of all time by critics. ## The second MCU feature release of 2022 is currently tracking to debut with over $300 million at the worldwide box office. At the domestic (North America) box office, the superhero flick is projected to deliver over $100 million in its opening weekend, which will be the first time during the covid-19 pandemic when two back-to-back domestic weekends will see $100 million-plus openers after "Minions: The Rise of Gru". ## Directed by Taika Waititi, "Thor 4", according to box office pro is looking to earn between $135M-$165M in its opening domestic weekend. The opening weekend projection of the film is tracking ahead of its predecessor, "Thor: Ragnarok", which debuted with $122.7 million in November 2017. ## The box office projection of the 4th Thor installment is closer to the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ($146.5 million in May 2017) and Captain Marvel ($153.4 million in March 2019). There is a real chance that "Thor 4" may beat both of these movies and take one of the biggest Marvel openings ever. ## There is a possibility that critics' reviews might impact those projections in the final hours before release. However, as seen in the past, Marvel movies have always been audience-friendly and overcome those reviews more often than not, and have delivered at the box office. "Thor 4" is unlikely to get affected by critics' score which is 70% from 179 reviews at the time of writing on Rotten Tomatoes. ## The movie stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor alongside Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor. Portman is making her comeback after missing out on the previous two Thor movies. In the film, Thor attempts to find inner peace but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie (Thompson), Korg (Waititi), and Jane Foster (Portman) - who is now the Mighty Thor - to stop Gorr the God Butcher (Bale) from eliminating all gods.## Stay tuned...
